Hello 2018, goodbye 2017! :)
As I sit here writing this post; face mask on, hair in a scrunch; I can't help but wish I could relive all of the amazing moments of 2017. I feel as though within a span of just a year, so much changed; myself included in ways that I can't even begin to explain. You see, it's funny how we work. How in the moment we tend not to seize it right then and there but after a while we try to hold on to those little moments that make life worth it. Little gems I call them :) I also have to admit that I am a little sad even though I know that life must go on. It's only human to feel like when something new starts ( in this case the next chapter of our lives) we lose everything else (all of those previous precious moments that we can't help but cherish). I will admit that I am guilty of that, and in so many ways I almost expect myself to have a hard time "letting go". But you know what, I finally realized something. You don't have to let them go at all. Starting new doesn't mean starting with a clean slate but in fact taking everything that you already have and gaining a new perspective on things, most importantly on life. This year I have found myself becoming more and more fascinated with the words "open mindset" and "mindfulness". To me, they represent not only acknowledgment of my past but acceptance of my future to come, and essentially how to better myself without changing who I am as a person, fellow ice cream eater, and most importantly Netflix enthusiast ;) But seriously, I can't stress enough the importance of starting each morning with a clear and well rested mind. Especially with finals right around the corner, I find it just as necessary as studying for a test. Try to take a step back and this about it for a moment. You can only exceed in a subject if you understand it and know it inside out. Now think of yourself. How can you exceed and excel in life if you don't know yourself inside out? You can't. Just like in school or at work, you have to "study" yourself. You might be asking yourself, but how can I study myself? That sounds nearly impossible!" But don't fret, I promise it's easier than it sounds. You can start by TREATING yourself. Haha now I'm not saying that you should go buy yourself 10 pairs of shoes (I mean you can if you want, I'm a size 8 ;) ) , but get up a little earlier to watch the sunrise, meditate for 20 min in the evening or visit the local coffee shop. The little moments really do count in life, and let me tell you they add up quickly. The next step is to only do things for yourself. Of course helping people should be at the top of everyone's list, but the big decisions that you make should be centered around yourself. Thirdly, remember that it is ok to be independent and do the things you love alone. To tell you the truth, I find it more rewarding to spend time with myself. This year I challenged myself to do one thing that I specifically wanted to do each day even if I was the only person who wanted to do it. Haha I have to tell you, I didn't expect how many things I would be doing on my own but its ok :)
And remember, I promise you there is someone out there who would absolutely love to join you in any endeavor so don't be afraid to ask!
Now on to the good stuff: NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS
1. Acquire a constant piece of mind similar to that mimicked during meditation
2. Do one fun thing every day
3. Get on a good workout routing (I find that it help to channel your stress and emotions)
4. Write 10 things that I am grateful for each day (I try to not repeat myself and it will help you gain a more grateful perspective on your life)
5. Establish a weekly blog schedule (Haha, I guess now I'm one step closer to achieving that :) )
6. Explore myself more deeply and gain a new found sense of independence
7. Get a boyfriend (Now I know that this is personal but why not be completely honest with you guys, y'all are my fashion fam)
8. Eat more fruits and veggies ( Haha I will try but I'm not making any promises)
9. To keep an open mind throughout the year ( in regards to new and more old friendships and opportunities the find their way to me)
10. Most importantly, to ENJOY every single moment of every single year
